Meet The Team
Established in 2013 by our Principal, Rosy Thompson, the Academy is now home to over 200 aspiring performers who attend weekly classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Drama and Singing. Pupils are taught by a talented team of current West End performers and industry professionals with credits in the West End, UK and International Tours, Film and Television.
The Rosy Thompson Academy of Dance prides itself on being a welcoming, lively and inspiring place for our pupils to learn and have fun. We have a real family atmosphere which flows through everything we do, and all of our pupils are encouraged to support one another whilst working hard and striving for their personal bests. We acknowledge that every child is different, and our team thrive on being able to help every pupil explore their love of performing arts whether that be as a hobby, as a way to improve their confidence or coordination, or as a stepping stone to a dream career in the Arts industry.
Pupils of the Rosy Thompson Academy of Dance regularly take IDTA and LAMDA examinations receiving exceptionally high marks with some going on to take part in regional and national awards ceremonies and competitions. Our pupils regularly compete in IDTA Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz awards receiving placement in all styles and nominations to perform at a national level. Academy pupils have also competed in the national British Arts Awards and we are proud to have achieved both the Baby and Senior Ballet titles in 2019.
During our final term of the academic year, pupils have the opportunity to step away from syllabus work and perform in our annual summer show. This is a chance to showcase their hard work throughout the year, learning exciting new choreography and experiencing the thrills of performing on a live stage complete with costumes and a supportive audience. Family and friends are encouraged to come and support what is always an amazing weekend of performances and an exciting time for everyone at the Academy as we celebrate the end of another successful year.
