Brand-New Acro Class!

Hi! Missy Lucy here! I am beyond excited to share that we’re launching a brand-new Acro class every Saturday from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM for kids ages 8-12! Whether your child is a complete beginner or has some experience, this class is designed to welcome students of all levels.

Acro is as much about mindset as it is about physical ability. My primary goal in these classes is to create an environment where students can build their confidence and take pride in discovering what their bodies are capable of. It’s incredibly rewarding to see young dancers realise their potential as they grow stronger, more flexible and skilled each week.

What we will focus on

Our class structure revolves around five key areas: flexibility, strength, balance, limbering and tumbling. Each of these elements are crucial to developing well-rounded acrobatic abilities, and I’m excited to guide our students through the process.

Conditioning & Warm-Up:

We start each lesson with conditioning exercises and dynamic stretches, combined with group and partner games that focus on balance techniques like handstands, chin stands and leg holds. This part of the lesson is not just fun—it’s essential for improving overall dance fitness, strength and flexibility, laying a solid foundation for acro skill

Across the Floor:

Next, we transition into the “across the floor” section, where we work along a tumble track to enhance basic skills like forward and backward rolls, explosive jumps, continuous cartwheels and round-offs. This stage helps students perfect their technique while building the momentum needed for more advanced movements.

Tumbling:

Once everyone is warmed up and confident in their basic skills, we move on to the tumbling portion of the lesson. This is where we explore more advanced acro techniques. As a qualified Acrobatic Arts teacher, I’ll be using their structured syllabus along with my own experience in acro and gymnastics to guide students safely through each step. Before any new skill is attempted, we’ll go through a series of progressions to ensure everyone understands how to execute it confidently and safely.

Finishing Strong with a Deep Stretch:

We end each class with a deep stretch, giving students the chance to cool down and reflect on what they’ve learned. We’ll also discuss individual goals, offering tips on what to practice at home so they can come back each week ready to smash their personal bests!

I can’t wait to see how our students grow in these Acro classes. If your child is ready to join us, don’t wait—spaces are filling up fast!

Hope to see you there!
